Does Everything Happen for a Reason?
I hear this all the time. I used to believe it as well. "Everything happens for a reason". This saying is applied from everything as tragic a miscarriage to the winning or losing record of a basketball team. Thus the word "everything" but does everything happen for a reason. Isn't it instead more likely that everything in the universe just happens, and once said thing has happened there is an array of obstacles or choices that can then be made based on the current perspective. Why is it that because I might not have seen a path until something else occurred that lead me to the next choice?
My problem with the phrase is the word "reason". Humans need to put something into a box thats understandable even if that thing is something our minds can't understand, a 4th dimension for example. The word reason implies an outside force almost being responsible or leading us to the current path when in fact that path was already there but simply a set of circumstances revealed the path. Some would argue that is what's divine about the whole situation but i would argue what about all the other paths you could have taken that you were never able to consider because you couldnt see them. like the 4th dimension.
I just can't accept that there's a "reason" for things that happen. Things simply always have happened and they will continue to happen long after we're all gone.

Recently a near by mayor made some ridiculous comments on his face book that are getting some media attention.
A friend on facebook made a comment about how she thinks the local news coverage about what he said is stupid alluding to the right to privacy. Seemingly not understanding that public officials logically and rightfully so are under more scrutiny than your average joe however im not here...
How the NBA stacks the deck
of the first 21 Laker home games, only 4 were on the road. Of the first 21 Griz games, only 7 were home. Lakers have the best record in the league with 15-3. Griz are bellow .500 with 8-12.
